The Best Office Colours for 2020
Nobody likes a drab and dreary office, not least because they looked dated and unattractive – the colour schemes of an office can impact an array of things, from our mental wellbeing to our moods and productivity. In this article, Arc Business Interiors are going to look at the top colours for your workplace in 2020.
Blue
Associated with tranquility, calm and deep thought, blue is always a good choice for any office. In fact, colour experts PANTONE have chosen ‘Classic Blue’ as their Colour of the Year for 2020, citing its “reassuring qualities” and a “sense of peace and tranquility… aiding concentration”. Blue is also thought to help spark creativity, so if your business could do with some extra ingenuity, then blue may well be the way to go.
Tasteful adoption of blues, whether it’s ‘Classic Blue’, powder blue or a deep navy will look fantastic in any workplace, helping employees focus and get more out of their day. Consider using it in break-out spaces, too, to help people relax during their downtime.
Green
We’re strong supporters of incorporating greenery into the workplace, from adding a few plants to the office to going all out with biophilic design. The next best thing is green decor, so consider a splash of green here and there – it brings a number of benefits; it’s easy on the eye, and its strong association with the natural world brings a sense of calm. It’s also thought to help us focus, so it can be a helpful boost for those of us working long hours or working to a tight deadline.
Yellow
For those looking for a brighter decor in the workplace, then yellow could certainly be the way to go. The vibrancy of yellow walls will bring a positive feeling to the office, improving people’s moods and bringing some extra vitality to your workforce. Yellow symbolises confidence, which can make a significant impact on morale, work satisfaction and productivity. We would suggest not overdoing the yellow, though – an entirely yellow room or use of garish yellow can have the adverse effect.
White
While white may not be spectacular, it works brilliantly in offices of all kinds. Whether you’d like the white to be a focal point or act as a canvas for other colours, there’s so much you can do with it. White makes plants look greener, the room look bigger and the space look brighter – use it wisely in conjunction with other colours to create a truly inspiring interior.
We’ve listed a few colours for office inspiration here; there’s quite literally a whole spectrum of colours to choose from, and of course your personal tastes will affect your choice.
